mireinart

Marta Isabella Reina is an Italian illustrator and graphic designer based in Bristol (UK). Under the name Mireinart, she creates beautiful illustrations inspired and contaminated by symbolism, folklore, magic, mythological and religious imagery (www.mirenairt.com). She recently started to work on dreams’ representation and creative processes. She holds a BSc and MSc in Communication Design and she obtained a PhD in Design in 2018 at Politecnico di Milano, Design Department, with a thesis entitled “Communication design for Gender Cultures. Models and Tools to Explore Gender Issues in Design Education”. She has been an Associate Lecturer in Graphic Design at the University of Greenwich, School of Design in 2018-2019 and has collaborated in teaching and research activities on the study of the relations between gender, design and representation within the research group dcxcg (communication design for gender cultures) of Politecnico di Milano, School of Design, between the years 2013-2017. Her research interests focus on visual criticism, education and design activism related to cultural and media studies. She is also interested in the understanding of the role that creative practitioners can play for social changes regarding matters such as equality, diversity, inclusion, mental health, ecology and environment, etc.
